Despite the rupiah's value somewhat lower when you guys wear rate dollars or euros, but still, you need to get the best price when you buy something to bring home.
I give you some advices for you so you can buy more things with lower rice. But please, not food for guys! 😀 Some traditional seller, food traditional seller, make the food they sale with all their might, so just enjoy the tasty food they made and don't think about price.
This tips is just adviced if you shop for stuff,
Okey here we go,
1. Avoid shopping complex that too close to the tourist area
Some seller raise the price when the store close to tourist area or crowded areas.
Avoid the crowded and start looking for more distant store. Usually, they give you lower price for same stuff.
2. Shop in traditional market
Although traditional market tend to be not too neat, but it will give you more experience if you try to shop there. Sometimes, the things and stuff sale in tourist area also sale in traditional market.
Just try to look for market ("Pasar" in Bahasa) nearest the tourist area. And compare the price!
3. Shop early in the morning
This applies for traditional market only. There is term "Pembukaan toko" its mean when the first tme the store open, they will give you lower price they can so you will buy their stuff. Most of seller here belief that if first buyer fail to buy, the whole day will become harder to get another buyer.
4. Bargain Half Price
This is the point! Also applies to Indonesian people, bargain half price become a must if go shop to traditional market with no price tag.
If the seller give you the nominal, dont ever doubt to bargain with half price. Bargaining deals will start, increase the price little by little. usually, the price of the stuff is between 70%-75% from the initial price.
