Wayang (Puppets), Special Art Of Central Java, Which Tells About The Gods.

After a few times just about traveling and beautiful places in Indonesia, this time I will be reviewing the arts of Indonesia that is typical of Central Java. Wayang or Puppet in english.
Actually, there are an awful lot of Arts throughout each area of Indonesia. Like for example, Caravan Sapi in Madura, Rancak Dance in Bali, Plates Dance in Sumatra, Angklung in West Java  and much more.
But this time I will discuss about Wayang. Specially Wayang Kulit.

Wayang Kulit is a traditional art that is primarily grown in Indonesia. Wayang is derived from the word ' Ma Hyang ' which means to spiritual spirit, God, or God Almighty. There is also a mean puppet is a term in Javanese which means ' Shadows ', this is because spectators can also watch a puppet from behind the screen or just his shadow only. Leather puppet show performed by a puppeteer in Indonesia called 'Dalang' who also became the Narrator dialog puppet figures, accompanied by gamelan music played a bunch of nayaga and the song sung by the 'pesinden'.

Wayang kulit performances have been recognized by UNESCO on November 7, 2003, as an amazing cultural works in the field of narrative and the beautiful and precious heritage (a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity). Wayang Kulit are more popular in Central and Eastern parts of Java, while wayang golek more often played in West Java.

In wayang kulit, the usual story on tell me is the story of Mahabharata, which tells about the Pandavas 5, Kurawa, Rama, Shinta, the Punakawan series and much more.

Pandavas Lima is a character that can not be separated with the story of the Mahabharata, the Pandavas because Five central figure along with five Pandava Kurawa. is five brothers, sons of Pandu Dewanata i.e. yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva. Here we will get to know the five Pandavas figures:


YUDHISTHIRA

Yudhisthira had his little name i.e. Puntadewa. He is the oldest among the five Pandavas, or the son of Pandu with Dewi Kunti. He is the incarnation of the God Yama. Yudhisthira ruled the Kingdom of Amarta.

BIMA

Bhima with his little name Sena. BIMA was the second son of Kunti Devi Pandu. He is the incarnation of the God Vayu so it has the nickname Bayusutha. ARJUNA

Arjuna with his little name Permadi. Arjuna was the youngest son of Dewi Kunti with Pandu. He is the personification of the God Indra, the God of war. NAKULA

SAHADEVA

GET TO KNOW THE CHARACTERS OF NOTABLE PUNAKAWAN

In wayang world there is a wide range of figures. Sunan Kalijaga is said to have created wayang for means of intruduce Islam to Indonesia people, so that human beings always remember the god GUSTI ALLAH.

lots of wayang characters. Among the wayang kulit figures there is a character called Punakawan series. The distinctive character is the punakawan series in Indonesia puppet. They symbolize the people most. His character indicates the assortment of roles, as Adviser to the Knights, entertainers, social critic, clown even a source of truth and policy. In the Javanese wayang karakte rpunakawan consists of Semar, Gareng, Petruk, and Bagong.

The punakawan series it comes from the words of Puna and others. Puna means difficult; Whereas comrade means kanca, a friend or relative. So meaning it can also be translated Punakawan friends/brothers in distress.

SEMAR

SEMAR is derived from the Samara (rushing). SEMAR is the Centre of its own origins and the punakawan series from overall punakawan itself. SEMAR respected by friends or opponents Semar became the reference of the Knights for advice and became a respected figure. GARENG

NALA Gareng comes from the word nala khairan (acquire goodness). Semar is the son of gareng which means devotion or obtained with the adored. Nalagareng is a man who could not articulate, what he says sometimes awry. But he's very funny and laughable. NALA gareng punakawan figure that has incomplete parts of the body. NALA gareng experience paraplegic, handicapped, hand and eye. Characters who symbolised is paraplegic man should be careful in describing live the life. A disabled man describes the hands can be trying, but God that determines the end result. Eye defect shows man must understand the reality of life

Philosophy: the first child Semar, with hands, legs limp, eyes squint, represents lucrative COPYRIGHT. that creating something, and it's not perfect, we must not surrender. However we've tried. whatever the result, pasrahkan him.

PETRUK

Petruk is derived from the word fat ruk (leave). Petruk was the second son of Semar. Figure of petruk is portrayed with long form symbolizing the thought should be long. Petruk is mischievous and smart character, as well as a sweet-faced with a smile that is enticing, panda, and also very funny.  He likes to quip untruth with lawakan-lawakannya.

BAGONG

Bagong Word al ba gho (bad). Bagong punakawan is Java. Bagong was the youngest Semar or punakawan to 4. In the puppet stories, Bagong is a character created from the shadow of Semar. Although complete petruk with beauty and perfection, but is considered cumbersome human intact. because he has lacked. So a true human being is a human being who has advantages and disadvantages. so don't be afraid or ashamed of our shortcomings. due to a shortage that is what make us whole. we need to think about now is, how to minimize our shortcomings, and maximize our advantages. because after all the shortcomings and advantages that we cannot dispose of or we eliminate.

Each puppet character can not change his shape. So the Puppeteer will retain the character without any modifications of any kind from past to present.
