1. Ask For Direction
If you guys got lost and had to have to ask people around about directions, but no one there who understand english, just say "Tolong, tunjukan arah ke....(Please pointing the direction to...) " and mentioned the address or purpose.
2. Ask For Price
If you walk arround and found traditional market near you, just go explore the market, because you never know what you will get from the traditional market. They always sell unique and vintage stuff, that you can bring home.
No price tag! Don't be suprise. Most of seller in traditional market do not put the price tag on stuff they sold. So you can ask the price in Bahasa with "Berapa harganya ini...)(How much is this?) " the people will tell you the price.
3. Introducing Self
It not imposible for you to make friend with Indonesia people, because basicly Indonesia people are friendly and so open to new people.
Just say, "Nama saya adalah... (My name is...)" Maybe it sound weird, but just try it 😀
4. Ask For Name (To other people)
And after you introduce your self, it your turn to ask her/his name.
"Siapa nama anda? (Who's your name?)" is the best way to ask!
5. Thank You, Sorry and Please
Three magical simple word,
Terima kasih for thank you, Maaf for sorry and Tolong for Please (Please in Ask for help), you definetely have to say that word to be respected here.
6. Order Food or Stuff
Indonesian food are all sooo yummy to tasted. Not just in modern caffee or restaurant, you can aslo find yummy food on street simple caffee or just small mart.
You can try to say "Saya ingin memesan... (I wanted to order...)", and make little conversation with the seller.
7. Ask The Time
It simple, but to increase your Bahasa, you can ask with "Jam berapa kah ini?.. (What time is this?)" and let people answer you 😊
8. Looking For Toilet or other
"Permisi, bisakah anda tunjukan dimana toilet? (Excuse me, can you show me where is toilet)"
You can also ask other like ATM, or hotel, or other.
Those are sample for simple conversations you can try while visiting Indonesia.
